Did an overnighter Sunday night, arived at the lake about 3.30pm and 2 guys on there who'd done Saturday night and had 6 fish out, so not too bad. A couple of walks round the lake and there was loads of fish at the top end all asking in the sun so I decided to try and winkle one out on the floater gear, so just armed with the basics and a loaf of bread I set about trying to catch one but they were not in a feeding mode and wouldn't even look at the freebies

After an hour or so I decided to knock it on the head and then chose my swim for the night, got the house and rods sorted and sat back listening to the 20/20 cricket on the radio. Fish were cruising in and out of my area from about 6pm until I deicded to hit the sack at about 11pm and to be honest a little disappointed I hadn't had a pick up

1am and I'm into a fish

A nice little scrap ensued and I was soon landing a nice looking mirror, on the scales it went 20lb 6oz

I did attempt a self take but it didn't come out too good

(shut it Ghost:evil: ) Back in the sack and I'm out like a light

4am and my other rod signals a take, lifting into the fish it was obvious it was only a small fish, coming in quite eaisly it just pushed the needle round to 10lb 4oz. I got back in the sack but loads of thrashing in the margins signalled the fish were having another bash at spawning

6.30am I'm sat with a brew watching them still at it and decided to have a slow pack down. Just as I'm packing away my bed my right hander is screaming at me

A spirited scrap results in this nice common weighing in at 16lb 8oz
Didn't bother recasting the rod and once the gear was away I tried to get a couple of pics of the fish spawning but only managed these
